Updated 07/03/2025 | Published 03/29/2022

Question:

Have a used u haul car hauler. Looking for a steel wheel for a spare. It’s 15” and 6 bolt pattern. I think it’s a 4.5” bolt pattern.

When it comes to finding a spare tire for your UHaul car hauler I recommend The Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Black # TA32FR. The 6 by 5-1/2 is a common trailer pattern. The Taskmaster wheel # TA32FR has improved torque retention technology that helps to keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer. It has a weight capacity of 2,830 pounds. To properly measure your rim you would need to measure center-to-center between opposite bolt holes.

I also recommend The Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # AM10303.The tire has a 10 ply rating , and has a speed rating M which is 81 MPH.

I will attach a review video below and a link to show how to measure your bolt pattern.

Noah, I am just now looking for the same thing. I have a spare from one of my other trailers but it doesn’t come close to fitting into the fender of the u-haul. There’s a lot off offset on the u-haul it’s offset very far to the outside like a front wheel drive car. It’s also a 205/75-14

@RodneyM We have the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel with Offset # AM20334 which is a 14" wheel with the common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and a positive offset (which means the mounting surface it moved towards the outward-facing part of the wheel), but the offset is only 1/2" so I'm not sure how that compares to what you have. The trailer you're towing might be using passenger vehicle tires/wheels so you might want to check with U-Haul to see what they have for replacements.
