Question:

I have a Four Winns boat trailer (I think they make it under the name “Sure-Load”. It holds my 2800 lb. Four Winns boat. It’s been sitting, under a carport, about 15 years. The master cylinder on the actuator has some fluid in it, but is mostly dry and looks pretty rusty inside. From reading your website I have learned that the Titan Aero 6000 disk brake actuator on my trailer is no longer made and parts may be limited. The calipers are Kodiak 225 with a 12 1/8” disk. The wheels are 15” with a 6 x 5 ½ lug pattern. I’d like to remove the disk brakes and replace the system with electric brakes. My concern is that the backing plate (I hope I’m getting the name of the parts right) is 2 ½” away from what looks like a dust or grease seal on the rear of the hub. Again, I may have that part name incorrect. In the photos, you can see the backing plate (with a mount for the caliper still attached) and the red round part that has the lug nuts on it. Those appear to be 2.5” apart from one another. thanks

To replace your hydraulic brakes with electric brakes on your Four Winns boat trailer you will need the following parts.

Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-458-459 qty 1
Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K qty 2
Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802346 qty 1
Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box # HS381-9000 qty 1
Fulton Fas-Lok Coupler # F346000301 qty 1

You will need Wire # 10-1-1 which is sold per foot to run to the brake assemblies. And your tow vehicle must have a Brake Controller # 90195 to control the electric brakes. If you need help with the brake controller or 7-way connection on your tow vehicle please let me know what you are towing with.

Your brake mounting flange is going to be in the correct position for the electric brake setup. The brake drum sits in past the grease seal while the flange for the brake assemblies sits flush on the the back of the brake assembly.
