Leaking Waste Valve on 2017 Heartland RV Big Country Fifth Wheel

Updated 10/24/2024 | Published 03/26/2022

Question:

This is a used 2017 Heartland Big Country 3560SS. gray water leaking at coupler. Is there a OD coupler that will fix this?

If your gray water tank is leaking at/around the seal for the waste gate housing, you will need to replace. The LaSalle Bristol Cable-Actuated RV Waste Valve for Gray Water Tank, # 34466N11AB60GM has a 60" cable with an easy-to-grip handle on the end that mounts in a convenient location. This installs on a 1-1/2" pipe. Use LaSalle Bristol ABS Solvent Cement - Black, # 3447530889 to install the valve.

I have a 2019 heartland big country fifthwheel and I have to replace both grey tank valves. Would they be the same length? Do I have to cut the under belly or can I do it with the room I have because of the fifthwheel? Thanks Dale

@Dale there are no real standards between trailers and we don't have a way to find what is currently on your 2019 Heartland Big Country. The only way to find the answer to your questions is to take a look under there to see how the cable is routed and measure. I would expect it to run under the underbelly but that may not be true depending on where the valves are located. You can take a look when you measure to be sure. If you do have to cut into it I would check to see if you have an access panel under pre-cut that would allow you to do what you need without making additional holes. Worst case you can cut a small hole and stitch it back shut with zip ties, then use a sealant like # LT37467 to seal it back up. Also, you don't have to be exact with the cable length as long as it is long enough to reach. If it is a little longer that won't be a problem.
