Yakima Landing Pad 22 Torque Settings

Question:

I have a 2019 subaru forester with fixed points. How much do the yakima landing pads need to be tightened? The manual says 1.5 nm but having done that if I push backwards or forwards on the bars the feet move with relatively little effort. Should I tighten until this no longer happens? Or is this acceptable?

The instructions for the Landing Pad 22 # Y00248 specifically state not to overtighten so you don't damage your 2019 Subaru Forester so I definitely don't recommend just going to town on it.

What I would do is make sure you have that washer in the correct orientation (concave side up) and that you've wiggled the Landing Pad 22 around a little when initially tightening it to get it snug. Once that is done then go ahead and torque it to 1.5 Nm per the instructions.
