Question:
Good morning, I have an enclosed car trailer that already has a breakaway small battery and I am adding a winch to pull the vehicle into the trailer as well as a powered tongue jack for leveling. I also have a solar battery tender I want to install on the roof of the trailer to maintain this battery. Is there a wiring diagram you can supply for this setup? Also can I eliminate the small breakaway battery and just use the single battery to power all trailer functions? Lastly…. Can I also have the tow vehicle charging the battery while I’m towing and the battery tender take over while it’s unhooked automatically?? Thank you very much in advance!!!

To charge your enclosed car trailer battery and power your accessories you're going to need the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Single Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 12 Amp item # RED96FR. You are also going to want the 23-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit for Redarc In-Vehicle 12-Amp BCDC Battery Charger item # RED76FR to connect to your battery and the Universal Mounting Bracket for Redarc BCDC Battery Charger item # RED53FR for installation. This charger can use both your vehicle battery as well as a solar panel to charge your car trailer battery. It will use your solar panel first and draw from your truck as needed. It has a battery isolator so it won't take power from your truck battery when it is off, only when it's running. You are going to need to keep your breakaway battery. I have attached a diagram.
