Difference Between Older and Newer Model Curt Hitches for 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:
Why was The Curt 13437 # CU89FR discontinued. I installed the CU89FR on my 2020 Outback, but have not towed anything yet. Was there some problem with the CU89FR ?

Expert Reply:
There was a slight design change in the mounting brackets from the Curt 13437 (our part CU89FR) and the current fit 13494 , our part # C67JR. This was to accommodate for some of the differences in the newer model Outback Wagons where the hitch attaches to the vehicle. There isn't anything structurally wrong with the older model Curt hitch, Curt was just able to slightly change the design to fit more models.
