Where To Cut Bumper For Curt C13410 Hitch On 2012 Subaru Outback
Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 08/29/2025 >
Question:
The installation video shows cutting the bumper fascia centered on the middle bolt hole. The instructions show cutting the fascia off center from that middle hole. It would seem centered would be the appropriate cut. Is this correct?

Hello Timothy, good question. As far as installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13410 on a 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon, that middle bolt hole SHOULD be centered right where the receiver goes. As long as this is the case, you will want to do the centered cut and not the offset cut. I am not quite sure why the Curt instructions say to offset the cut. It could be the trim panel was designed a bit differently back when their instructions were written. Just make sure that middle hole is actually centered on the bumper. If so, you will be fine to center your cutout.

Hey Timothy, did centering the cutout for the hitch receiver work out for your Subaru? I'm asking because it would be helpful to know for others who might be in the same situation.
