The brake controller that involves the easiest installation for your 2022 Volvo XC90 is the Curt Echo # C51180. The Echo simply plugs into your factory 7-way and doesn't involve the bulky wiring that is required for other controllers. The installation process doesn't even involve tools. Also, you can control your controller settings with the ease of your smart device.
To complete your towing setup, I recommend a ball mount/ball like the ones included in the Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45534. This kit also comes with a hitch cover and a locking hitch pin.
