Question:
I am getting code OL, I had a friend hook up his truck to my trailer and it works fine. It’s in my truck.I reset the controller, it resets, the two little dots come on and as soon as I hit the brake pedal or the manual slide OL appears.I tested the ground, 12V constant and 12 V when I hit the brake it goes on and off when I release. The blue has no power at all, even hitting the brake pedal. I read the blue wire is at fault so I cut it right at the controller and figured the OL would go away and it still comes on..I even bought another controller still the same.I replaced my trailer connector harness and socket all works with the exception no power to the blue wire. I went over the harness from the rear trailer connector over the frame rails to the brake controller and all looks good.I never towed a trailer with electric brakes on this truck and it only has 30k miles.I’m exhausted and I think my next option is to bring it to the dealership, which they will use a different aftermarket controller and they said it has to be programmed. I know this is not true and are going to take advantage of me.Thank you

The OL code means that the brake controller, like the Prodigy P2 # 90885, is overloaded so your wiring is messed up somewhere. I would check your ground wire to make sure it's securely connected to a bare-metal area. If that looks good then the next step I recommend taking is replacing the current blue output wire from the brake controller back to your 7-Way connector. To do this you'll need 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 and Butt Connectors # DW05745-5.
