Will A Curt Gooseneck Ball Provide The Bed Rail Clearance Needed For Reese Goosebox and 2022 F-350?

Question:

I just picked up a 2022 Ford F-350 long bed with the factory in bed hitch system. I want to make sure that the Curt gooseneck ball kit will work with the taller bedsides that I have. It needs to connect to the Reese goose box that I have of my 5th wheel trailer. Can you tell me if it will fit?

I can help you determine if the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit # C60692 will provide you with enough clearance on your 2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty with the factory in bed prep/puck hitch system. As there are so many different trailers out there I cannot say with 100% certainty that it will work with every trailer.

To begin the Curt Ball is 5-1/8" tall from the base of the mount inside your bed.

Your Reese Goose Box # RP85FR will also be height adjustable depending on its current setting and any remaining adjustment left in the mounting tabs.

From the base of the mounts in your bed you will need to measure to the top of your bed rails. Then you will need to add 6" for the clearance needed between your bed side rails and the under body of the 5th wheel trailer.

On your trailer you will then need to measure 5-1/8" down from the inside of the gooseneck connection. From that point you will measure up to the under side of the 5th wheel overhang. This measurement should be just slightly larger than the measurement for the bed sides and bed rail clearance.

If your measurement is shorter you will need to check the mounting holes on the Goosebox to see if it can be lowered to gain the additional clearance needed for your camper.
