You can definitely use an aftermarket brake controller on your 2021 Ford Ranger with the Tremor package. Though there is not a port to plug something like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 into, there are 4 wires under your dash specifically for this kind of application.

With that being said, not all trucks came with the 7 Way plug on the back, so you may need to add the Curt # C56431 to get this completed. If you truck did not come with the 7 Way, you will also want to make sure those 4 wires under the dash are all connected as well. This can be tested by making sure the 12 volt line, usually black in color, has constant power, the white will be your ground so should not have any power at any time, the brake switch wire, usually red, will have no power until the brake pedal is depressed. The brake controller output, usually blue, will be a little more difficult to test, but if your black 12 volt power wire is good, you can actually just connect the 2 together and test the 5 o'clock position on your 7 way. If you have power, you are good and should disconnect the power wire. If you do not, you will need to run a wire from the blue wire on the controller to the 7 Way to get everything working.

That's a very good question, we tend to be extra cautious and say to use 10 gauge wire because that would be more than enough. When you get into longer trailers that will end up using a lot of wire the heavier gauge wire becomes more necessary.…
