Question:

I’m looking at purchasing this to mount to my car. I have 50” Thule EVO Aero crossbars and want to know how much room do I need to use the mounting hardware, particularly the ones provided with locks with this awning? I do have a roof basket and I have about 6-1/2” from the edge of the basket to end of the crossbar less the hinged end cap.

The Thule Overcast Awning - Roof Rack Mount - 6' 6" Long x 6' 6" Wide # TH8002AW604 is able to be mounted past the feet of the crossbars as long as the edge of the mounting hardware lines up with the edge of the crossbar feet (pictured below). The mounting hardware and awning is go to be approximately 4-5" wide when closed up for travel. Because of this you'll have plenty of room to mount the Overcast awning in the 6-1/2" space from the edge of your roof rack basket to the end of your Thule EVO Aero Crossbars # TH711320.
