Is There a Replacement Hub for Trailer with LM11948 Outer Bearing
Updated 10/20/2021 | Published 10/19/2021 >
Question:
Started a brake clean and adjust on my trailer that sat unused for years. Unfortunately I discovered right side was missing brake magnet. I tried unsuccessfully to locate a new one. Brake drum imprint: Fayette - 9219 - Dayton - Max Dia. 7.290 IN. Brake appears to be 7-1/4inch x 1-1/2inch drum is 1-7/8inch deep. Fayette no longer makes this brake or repair parts. 2,000lb brake magnets Ive found so far dont fit on the Fayette brake arm. The 2,000lb brake on Fayettes website is a 7inch x 1-1/4inch - looks exactly like eTrailers Dexter replacement Axletek B07E?. I mistakenly assumed 2,000lb brakes were categorized as 7inch in a general sense and it would probably work so I ordered 2 new brake assemblies from eTrailer - the AKEBRK-2L and AKEBRK-2R. Well, I was wrong on multiple counts: 1 New brakes were in fact exactly 7inch so only contacts 7.25inch drum in center of shoe. 2 Brake magnet sticks out way too far instead of nesting between brake shoes so it hits inner face of drum before shoes are fully inside drum could not go on far enough to seat on bearings. Also, shoes are 1/4inch narrower and much shorter friction material. This was very disappointing. I then considered buying new drums to fit the brakes, but how can I tell if the new drum hub and bearings will fit my current axle? This is getting deeper by the minute! - Outer brgs. are LM11948 0.75/19mm? ID x 1.782/45.25mm? OD. - Inner bearings are 4T-L44649 1.062/27mm? ID x 1.985/50.3mminch OD - Axle diameter for seal is 1.495/38mm/1.5? - seal is National #3677. Measuring axle lengths between diameters is a bit complicated, but distance from rear of inner race to front of outer race when installed in hub is approx. 1-7/8. Seal resides immediately behind inner bearing - lip width is ~ 0,285. Is there a way to tell if an eTrailer 4 on 4 drum fits on my axle e.g. Item # 8-173-16UC3-EZ - or am I looking at replacing the entire axle assembly because one magnet is missing?

I do have an option for you although we don't have a set of hubs which use the LM11948 bearing. Therefore, the only option we can offer is a new axle which allows you to upgrade to a standard hub/drum and braking assembly. In order to choose the correct replacement you'll need to know the weight capacity, hub face length, and spring center length. The Trailer Idler Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles part # e48GR for example has a 2,000 lb weight capacity, measures 60" long at the hub face, and 48" long at the spring center.
I have attached our axle selection below but if you can provide me with the above I'd be glad to pick one out for you.
