Do I Remove The Old Adhesive Before Adding New
Published 10/01/2021 >
Question:
My decking was basically spotless when I removed the old membrane.. no water damage and a little putty work here and there lucky. But, there is a slight sticky residue from the old adhesive. It had EDPM on it and I am replacing it with the LaSalle PVC. Do I try to clean this residue off and with what, or do I just apply the new adhesive over it ?

To add the Alpha Systems RV Roof Replacement Installation Kit for Roofs up to 25' - White # AL63FJ you won't need to remove all of the adhesive, you can apply the new adhesive over the old and it will work.
If there are major spots that would make it uneven or you just want it gone you can use rubbing alcohol or finger nail polish remover to clean and remove any of the major spots.
