Why Won't My Pace Edwards UltraGroove Cover Stay Latched?

Updated 04/13/2026 | Published 08/29/2021

Question:

The cover was operating smoothly, but then after opening it recently, it no longer will stay latched closed. Is there any way to fix this?

I do apologize for your cover not staying closed! There are a couple things that you can do to troubleshoot the latch of the Pace Edwards UltraGroove # 311-KRDA24A55. Firstly, make sure that the pull strap needs to be used to close it instead of closing it. The strap is needed to help engage the latch. Secondly, there should have no more of .25 inches of space between the cover and the truck's bed rails. There should be a little bit of room on the left and right of the UltraGroove cover. If it is coming open when driving, this is an indicator that there is too much space between the cover and the rails. You will be able to adjust the rails of the UltraGroove in order to decrease the gaps.

MY bed will not stay latched. The pull strap broke. Is that the cause?

@Anthony so the pull strap # PE53RB helps pull it closed all the way, but it wouldn't necessarily cause the cover to not latch I wouldn't think. Are you able to manually pull it closed and it latches, but just doesn't stay latched? The strap may work, but it almost sounds like something needs adjusted like the rails themselves.
