Question:
Is this base plate compatible with the Roadmaster Stowmaster rm-501 tow bar? We own a 2017 Jayco Class C motorhome with a 2inch receiver. We want to flat tow our 2013 Honda CR-V.

I have a solution for you, but the etrailer Base Plates # e98955 are not compatible with a Roadmaster Stowmaster # RM-501 tow bar; the Stowmaster is only compatible with Roadmaster EZ, EZ2, EZ4, XL, and Classic vehicle specific base plates. For this reason, in order to use the Roadmaster Stowmaster # RM-501 you will need to use the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-521567-4 on your 2013 Honda CR-V. This tow bar and base plate kit does not come with safety cables, so you'll also need the Roadmaster # RM-643.
With all of that said, there are still some parts you'll need; a complete flat towing step also includes tow bar wiring to power the lights on the toad, and a supplemental braking system, which is required by law in most states and provinces. For the wiring I recommend using the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267, which provides the signals for your toad's lights to function in tandem with the RV's. This kit uses diodes installed on the toad to prevent feedback from damaging the RV's electrical system
For a supplemental braking system I recommend using the Brake Buddy Stealth Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # HM39530 since it provides you with smooth proportional braking for your toad. It works with hydraulic braking systems.
There's also a chance that you may need a high/low adapter to keep your tow bar level during travel; I've linked a helpful article on how to properly measure to ensure that your tow bar is level as well as our entire selection of adapters to allow this. I've also linked some review and installation videos of these parts for you to check out, as well.
