Dual Hitch Adapter For Flat Towing A 2005 Mini Cooper While Carrying 2 E-Bikes

Question:

Hi there, I asked you a question a while ago which you answered so well for me. We purchased and installed the Blue Ox tow bar, etc.and it works great to flat tow our 2005 Mini Cooper! Now, we need to add a Black Widow double bike carrier for our e-bikes total weight of bikes 140 lbs plus another 60 lbs for the carrier itself. We read about having a dual receiver adapter but are not sure which one is best to keep the bike carrier above and off of the Mini Cooper set up. We don’t want to the Mini’s tow bar any lower than it is so not really sure what you’d recommend. Please let me know if you could. Thank you again!

I recommend using the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-6 for your bike rack. This adapter will lower your tow bars by 2" which you will want to ensure still give you the +/- 3" height needed for the tow bars to safely operate. The other 2" receiver is raised 6" for the bike carrier. This lift will ensure that your tow bars have clearance from the bike rack or bikes depending on your carrier. The adapter is rated for a maximum tongue weight of 400lbs which you will be well below with your 140lbs of bikes and the 60lb carrier.
