Is the Thule T2 Pro XTRO Compatible with the Draw-Tite # DT73RR for a 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon?

Question:

I just purchased a 2021 Subaru Outback Touring and looking at the subject hitch and bike rack. The Draw-Tite is also listed as part number 76332. I just want to make sure the Thule T2 Pro XTR is compatible with this hitch 2inch receiver. My question is whether the hitch can accommodate the length of the bike rack 2inch bar that goes into the hitch, and are the holes on the side of the hitch positioned properly for this bike rack. The website say the hitch fits this Subaru, but does this Thule bike rack fit the hitch and this Outback. Thanks... Paul

Yes, the Kuat NV 2.0 # BA22B has 6-5/8 inches from the center of the pinhole to the closest part of the rack when folded up. With that measurement, it will be close, but you do have 5/8 inches past your rear bumper if you are using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch - 2" # DT73RR.

I have a solution for you. Unfortunately, since the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch - 2" # DT73RR installs pretty far inward from the bumper, it will not work with the The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # TH83JV because of the distance from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outer edge of the bumper (6 inches) of your 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon. The closest part of the Thule T2 Pro XTR is 5 inches. I went ahead and attached a video that shows this measurement. With that being said, a great alternative rack that will be compatible both with the Draw-Tite hitch receiver and allow you to have enough bumper clearance on your 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon is the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # Y02480. The distance between the center of the hitch pinhole of the Draw-Tite hitch and the closest part of the HoldUp rack is 7 inches. The great thing about the HoldUp is it has the same wheel-attaching style as the Thule T2 Pro XTR. In addition, the HoldUp comes with a same-key system that locks the bikes and the rack to deter theft. The length of the shank and the pinhole alignment are compatible with the Draw-Tite hitch. I went ahead and attached a video of the HoldUp on a 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon to show how it will fit your vehicle.
