Parts Needed to Convert from Drum to Disc Brakes on My Saltwater Trailer

Updated 06/14/2021 | Published 06/11/2021

Question:

I have a 1993 EZ-Loader Express tandem axle boat trailer with drum brakes for my 24foot boat. I would like to convert to disc brakes and would like to know if this part # K2HR526DKG would do the trick? My inner bearing is 25580 and the outer is LM67048. Also, do you happen to have a conversion kit with master cylinder and brake lines included? Thank you for your help,

Your outer bearing # LM67048 will have the same 1.250" inner diameter of the # 15123. So the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR526DKG will fit the spindle on your axle without issue. I will say that you should check the bolt pattern on the back of your current brakes to make sure you have a 5 bolt, however. I included a picture of how it should measure as well.

As to the actuator, this will depend on if you were looking to go with a surge style actuator or electric over hydraulic.

If you are going with a surge actuator, I suggest going with the Titan Zinc Plated # T47457207K. This is rated up to 7,000 pounds and will work with a 1 7/8 or 2 inch ball. To complete this set up, you will need the brake line kit # T4829900.

If you were looking for an electric over hydraulic set up, I suggest the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit # HBA16-252-82. This will include all needed brake lines and break away kit, but you will need a 7 Way plug like H20046 to complete the trailer side. You will also need a brake controller that handles electric over hydraulic systems, like the Tekonsha P3 # 90195. If you already have a controller that handles this though, you can skip that part.
