Question:
Why does everyone try to match the Dexter 010-036-00 unitized seal which is the correct seal for 8K axles works with grease or oil lube with a double lip garter spring seal that is cheaper and clearly not as good ! This the correct part number for this axle per dexter and yes is between 40 - 50 apiece ! Why would anyone go cheap on a 30K trailer ? Unitized is the key ! Unbelieveable ! a 10.00 seal does not compare with the Dexter !!! Comment please !

The TruRyde Grease Seal part # RG06-070 and Dexter Oil Seal part # 10-63 are both designed for the same size spindle as they have the same dimensions, 2.250" inner diameter and 3.376" outer diameter. That said, the TruRyde is a grease seal therefore designed to be used with grease lubricated hubs. The Dexter is an oil seal which is designed to be used with oil bath lubricated hubs although can be used with grease as well because of the tighter fit.

I am replacing brake shoes earlier than expected because the Dexter seals #10-63 didn't quite keep the grease in. "can be used with" doesn't really answer the question. Which will hold contaminants out and grease in for the longest, TruRyde RG06-070 or Dexter 10-63?
