Question:
Westlake 235/80R16 G-rated tires. What is the average mileage/life expectancy of these tires? Thanks...

Helpful Expert Reply:
Due to the long list of variables that can affect the lifespan of a trailer tire, Lionshead who manufactures the Westlake tires couldn't provide a mileage number. They tell me that the average life expectancy of a trailer tire is between 3 and 5 years, which I'd certainly agree with.
Trailer tires will typically tend to dry rot and crack before the tread wears down. The best way to maximize the life of your tires is to:
• Keep tires inflated to psi listed on tire sidewall
• Don't exceed the weight capacity of the tire
• Observe the tire's speed rating
• Protect tires from UV radiation when they're not in use
Failure to observe the first three items above will cause excessive heat build-up in the tire which is the number one cause of blowouts and premature tire failure. When your trailer or RV is being stored outdoors, it's not a bad idea to use tire storage covers like # 290-3972 for black, # 290-3652 for the camo pattern or
# 290-3752 for what they refer to as diamond plate. These covers are a fit for a 235/80-16 tire like the
# WE76FR you'd looked at.
This tire comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
