Curt RockerBall and Convert-A-Ball Compatibility With A 5,000LB Boat Trailer

Question:
I'm trying to see if pairing the Convert-A-Ball mount for 2in hitches with the new-ish Curt 2in Rockerball would be advantageous. I know that separately the mount does quite a bit to lessen the jerking and jarring, but by adding the 2in ball from Curt that effectively tries to do the same thing, would it be double the pleasure, or should they maybe not go together, or will there be some level of diminishing returns, etc? Then beyond that, will towing a 21ft ski boat (5000lbs w/trailer) with surge brakes on the trailer be okay to use with this proposed hitch setup?

The Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 cannot be used with a shock absorbing ball mount like the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSC2. It can also not recommend by Curt to be used with surge brake couplers.
I recommend using a standard style ball mount with a anti rattle hitch pin for a trailer that does not have a surge brake coupler. This can be found in a kit like the Curt RockerBall Anti-Rattle Towing Kit # C63KR. Remember that the RockerBall adds 1-1/2" to your receiver height so the 4" drop included with the kit will be a 2-1/2" drop with the RockerBall. The anti-rattle hitch pin will reduce the play inside the receiver tube to quiet the ride and allow the RockerBall to function properly.
With the boat trailer and surge brakes you can use the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSC2 with a 2" Ball # 40038. You will not be able to use any anti-rattle devices with the Convert-A-Ball hitch in the receiver.
