Is there a way to prevent the Stromberg Lend-a-Hand from being pivoted across the front of a closed motorhome door? I don’t want to get trapped inside!

Your concern about being potentially trapped inside your RV is certainly a valid one, and also a common one with the Stromberg Carlson Lend-a-Hand. While there isn't a way to easily stop it from pivoting across the front of the door, there truly is nothing to worry about here as it will not trap you inside your RV.
If some mean individual did try and do that to you for some reason, all you would need to do is push your door open and the handle will flip back into place without issue. I have added a customer review below which actually addresses this very thing. So you won't be able to be trapped inside your RV at all due to the Lend-a-Hand, and this is going to be a really nice way to get that added stability to get in your RV. The handle also comes in your choice of three different colors so you can choose the one that best matches your preferred aesthetic:
