Question:
I have an equalizer hitch that has max towing of 6000 lbs. I bought a trailer that has a max higher max weight. Can I use the equalizer hitch I have and just buy larger capacity sway bars and use the part of the hitch that has the ball on it

Expert Reply:
The Equal-i-zer weight distribution spring bars and heads are both designed to fit specific tongue weight ratings so you'd have to replace both. So to uprate your system to 1,000 lbs tongue weight you'd need the head part # EQ90-02-1000 and the spring bars # EQ90-02-1099.
