Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the replacement head for your Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System. This one has a 10,000 pound gross towing weight capacity and a 1,000 pound tongue weight capacity. Now this replacement weight distribution head fits the Equal-i-zer systems. As we mentioned, it's rated at 10,000 pounds gross towing weight capacity and 1,000 pounds tongue weight capacity.
If you notice, it does include the 2 5/16 inch pre-installed chrome ball. Now, this Equal-i-zer hitch head will create two powerful points of rotational friction that work to stop side-to-side sway before it starts. Now the mounting hardware, the washers, and the spacer rivet to install this is not included. Those items we do sell separately. And this part is made in the USA.

After ordering the wrong (my fault) replacement head for a shared system, the folks at etrailer.com got the correct part to me in just a fews days. They were great.
Regarding the Equal-i-zer system itself. After the initial pull of 120 miles & reviewing the installation video, I decided to add 3 washers to the set-up. It was really good before and even better after. On the return trip we were traveling at up to 75 MPH with steady side winds of 20 mph plus gusts up to 25. She was steady as can be. I drive a 1 ton Sprinter with long wheel base & tall roof and pull 22 ft Imagine XLS.
Received everything as ordered. Disappointed in the packaging. Parts thrown in box willy neely. Shank appeared to have been around the world a few times. Must have been previously sold and returned. Most paint was missing. Parts and qualities were correct. Some were just beat up. Fortunately, the shank is ok, just ugly.
I got great help identifying the part I needed. It was shipped and delivered in a very timely manner.
Exactly what I ordered. That's the first expectation when you order something on line. Nobody wants a situation where you order a trailer hitch and receive a pair of thong underwear. And ETrailer didn't disappoint. No thong underwear.
After a visit to the trailer dealership and discovery of a long lead time to receive my part, I was able to order/receive my replacement part in a reasonable amount of time from etrailer (Thanks!) Had an issue with the jam bolt and wear on the old head (after lots of miles, and lack of lubrication) decided to replace the head. On this head I'm spending more time cleaning and lubricating before each use and it appears to be helping reduce the amount of wear on the spring bar receivers. Kind of a pain to lubricate wish the manufacture would install grease fittings top and bottom both sides.
OEM part. Bought this to upgrade my from 6K to,10K pounds.

Working well. This part is an upgrade to an existing hitch unsized by my dealer. I am glad Eual-i-zer is a “family” of parts. Only had to buy the head and 2 bars. All else is the same. etrailer did exfellent with timely shipping and packing. Towing experience is much better, now.
Ordered equalizer hitch head thinking it was gunna be bolt on and go. Not exactly the case. The inserts for the distribution bars were powder coats in a fixed position and could not get them to move. Had to remove and grind off all the powder coat and reassemble it back together for it to work properly. Also had to change hardware, soon as you tightened down the supplied nut and bolt even after everything was grinder down the inserts still wouldn't move. So be prepared to spend a couple hours making it right.
Purchased all the necessary parts here to duplicate the weight distribution hitch for a second tow vehicle used for our travel trailer. The etrailer website had all the Equalizer parts numbers making ordering easy and accurate. Tracking info was forwarded to me by email as soon as order shipped. Parts arrived quickly and well packaged. Now we’re ready to tow using either of our vehicles. Thanks etrailer!
If you own a towed vehicle and need replacement parts, e-trailer is the only company you’ll ever need. The website is easy to navigate and shipping was fast. Great hitch! I use a Chevy Colorado to tow a 24' Jayco, works great. I also tow the same trailer with a HD 2550 and while it might be overkill I also use this hitch.

Excellent hitch head and weight distribution/sway system. It came a day earlier than expected as well!
Bad mfg. !!!! Sockets for the spring bars were too large for the head. Tried to remove and clean them up but could see that they were forced into the head as the steel was cut and scarred from forcing them in. Spoke with Progress Mfg. and they are going to replace the head. We'll see what happens.

This head is much tighter than the previous from 6 years ago. Little harder to hook up but it is worth the additional work
