Determining Which Replacement Leaf Spring For 2005 Forest River Flagstaff Popup Camper

Updated 04/16/2021 | Published 04/14/2021

Question:

My daughter has a used popup trailer that has a bent spring that needs to be replaced. The spring measures 23 3/8” center to center on the good spring. I jacked it up and took it off and measured it. The spring only has one main spring and one leaf. The trailer weight is 2400 pounds. I don’t think this trailer has strong enough springs for the weight of the trailer. The previous owner put a 2” hitch on the rear bumper and over loaded even more. I think that is how the spring was bent. It doesn’t have the correct tires for the weight either. Is there a spring available that has a 1250 pound rating? Thanks

The closest spring we have to what you need for your daughters 2005 Forest River Flagstaff Popup Camper is the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 23-1/8" Long # e59SR which measures 23-1/8" center of spring eye to center of spring eye which is likely what her trailer needs due to springs getting longer slightly as they wear out.

The # e59SR is rated for 3500lb axles, or 1750lbs per spring which will still work for her trailer, and though it has 3 leaf's the rating of the spring is the important part.

Keep in mind that you will need to replace leaf springs in pairs, to make sure the suspension stays in alignment and works properly.
