Question:

I have a 2008 Starcraft Starstream travel trailer and I am replacing an axle that is bent. It needs to be a 3500# 5-4 1/2. The measurements from your stock dont seem to match up or I am measuring wrong. The overall length from the tip of the spindles are 91inch and the center of the spring mounts are 68 1/2. The original axle was a Lippert with a Starcraft part number 70012506. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

We may have an option that will work for you, but you will want to remeasure your axle as the length is measured from hub face to hub face and not between the tips of the spindles.

The closest option we have as a standard axle replacement would be the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Idler Hubs - EZ-Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs # 35545I-EZ-89 for an axle with the idler hubs, or # 35545E-ST-89 for an axle with electric brakes. Both options have the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern you mentioned. These axles measure 89" from hub face to hub face, and 74" from spring center to spring center. If the hub face dimension matches your axle you can remove the preinstalled spring seats and have the # TRSS238 welded in the correct location.

If your axle is a different length another option is an axle-less system like the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Straight Spindle Only - 3,500 lbs # ASR3500S05 which will bolt directly to the frame of your trailer so you do not need to worry about the length, and replaces your leaf spring suspension with progressive rate AEON main springs which do a great job of absorbing road shock for a much smoother rider.

For this option you can use idler hub # 84545UC1-EZ or hub and drum assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K and braking assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA which will give you the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern you need.
