Question:

I have a 2017 Forest River Forester RV and a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I need a complete tow package and installation to flat tow the Jeep. Can you help?

Let's begin with a hitch and trailer wiring for towing your RV with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. For a hitch, I'd recommend the Curt Class III hitch, part # C13182. You'll also need a ball mount and a trailer ball, provided in the # 989900 etrailer ball mount kit.

For a brake controller, I'd go with the Curt # C51180 Echo Wireless Brake controller. The Echo will communicate wirelessly with your smart phone, which you'll use to control the braking action of the trailer.

For a vehicle equipped with the tow package, use # HM40975 for a trailer connector. If it's not equipped with the tow package, use # 118727 and the # ETBC7L brake controller install kit which will adapt the 4 pole connector provided by the # 118727 to a 7-way.

For flat towing the Jeep, I'd begin with the # RM-521440-5 base plates which are compatible with all models except the SRT-8 and the Trackhawk model. If you have the SRT-8 or Trackhawk model, use the # BX1128
along with the # BX88151 adapter. For a tow bar, I'd recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain, part
# RM-522, which will self align and won't bind up on uneven terrain. For tow bar wiring, use the # RM-152-98146-7 diode kit.

For a supplemental braking system, I'd go with the Roadmaster Invisibrake, part # RM-8700. You'll also need the # RM-751449 stop lamp switch.

If the 19-3/4 inch installed height of the base plates has a height difference compared to the receiver on the motorhome greater than 3 inches, you'll also need a high/low adapter to bring it within that range.
