Recommended 185/80-13 Trailer Tires For Highway Use
Updated 03/02/2021 | Published 02/25/2021 >
Question:
Hi there, I have a Coleman Bayside elite camper. The tires are shot. The tires currently on the trailer are ST185/80D13. I did a bit of research on etrailer and one tire came up, but it wasnt recommended for long distances on the highway. My next trip is from Detroit to the outer banks in North Carolina, which is 14 hours of highway. Can you recommend a suitable tire for my camper. Thanks

We do have a great option for trailer tires that are size 185/80-13, though the "D" from your ST185/80D13 means you currently have a bias tire, which are not recommended for highway use. What you will want instead is a radial trailer tire, because they flex more and run cooler, which provides better road traction and longer-lasting tires. The best option for you then, is a radial tire from Kenda:
- Kenda Karrier ST185/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10208
This tire is the best for highway driving as it has the highest speed rating available at 81 mph (though we do have to mention to please follow local speed limits), and even comes with a 5-year warranty which speaks to how well-made these tires are.
I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the Kenda Karrier ST185/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10208.
