Trailer Coupler Recommendation for a Round 2 Inch Diameter Straight Tongue

Question:

I have a trailer that has 2 inch pipe for the tongue. was wondering if this coupler will fit the round pipe as well as the channel? looking for a tight fit.

You will want to use a coupler made to fit on a round tube rather than a square one. We have several options such as # BD028242 or # BD028383. However, these couplers do not have an exact 2 inch measurement so you may need to have some fabrication done and weld the couplers on. This work should be done by a qualified professional welder.

Coupler # BD028242 has an outer diameter of 2-1/4 inches and a 1-3/4 inch inner diameter.

Coupler # BD028383, which would fit around a pipe, has a 3-1/2 inch diameter.

You will need the coupler to make full contact with the tongue which is why it is not recommended to use a square one on a round tongue.
