Curious why you state the Roadmaster Invisibrake is not recommended if you tow through mountain areas.

That's a good question, and the reason the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 is not a very good option if you will be flat towing in mountainous or hilly areas is because it applies the same amount of braking force no matter what.

A set amount of braking power is not optimal for mountainous areas with steep inclines and declines because when ascending there will be too much braking power, putting more pressure on your RV and making it more difficult to climb, and when descending there can be not enough braking power, resulting in your tow vehicle "pushing" your RV.

So for more mountainous terrain, by far the best option is a proportional supplemental braking system, the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR.

What the Stay-IN-Play does is use an inertia sensor which detects your RV's deceleration and signals the braking system in your towed vehicle to use the same amount of braking power. So if you lightly tap on the brakes while you are in the mountains and ascending, your towed vehicle only applies a slight amount of braking power. Or if you are riding the brakes while you are on a descent, your towed vehicle will apply a proportional amount of braking power.
