Needing 51 Inch Long Replacement Axle Beam for Lowes Carry On Trailer

Question:

I have a Lowes Carry On trailler thats 3.5ft x 5ft and comes with a Dexter 2000lb axle. The axle is 51 from hub to hub and 40 from the middle of the leaf spring perch and the new Dexter axle im looking at is the 2200lb Easy Lube thats 68 hub to hub and 48 from the spring perch. Would this axle be to wide? The trailer is going to be used as a off road/camping trailer and will have bigger tires and 14x 6 wheels. Thanks for the info

The 68 inch long axle you mention would unfortunately be too long, as it would stick out either side by an additional 8 inches, compared wo what you have now. This would make your fenders completely ineffective which would likely endanger vehicles following you down the road.

We do have an option for you, however. I'd recommend the Timbren Axle-Less suspension system, part
# ASR2KHDS02 which combines the suspension with the axle. This particular unit is meant for wide, off-road type tires but for regular tires you'd use # ASR2KHDS01.

For the compatible hubs, you'd use # ASR2KHDS01 for an idler hub or # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K for a hub/brake drum. If you went with the hub/drum you'd also need the # AKEBRK-35-SA brake assemblies and the brake assembly mounting hardware, part # BRKH10B.
