If you're trying to connect a new controller to the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System, part # AL74000, then you need to keep in mind that this is the second generation for this system.
If you are looking at pairing instructions for the older model (72000), then it will reference a yellow wire to boot the manifold into pairing mode.
However, the step for booting the manifold, part # AL26558, of the 74000 model into pairing mode is much simpler. The only thing to do for that is removing the fuse of the connector for 5 seconds and then plug it back in. You are correct that there is no longer a yellow wire for you to do this.
As for the controller itself, if it's the first time turning it on, it will open to pairing mode. If not, you can use the functions to enter pairing mode and search for your manifold. I've linked to a video installation of this system for you to reference.
