White Stuff On The Connection Between the Black Tank and ABS Fitting?

Question:

In the response by Conner L, there is a picture of a fitting going into the black tank held together by a worm gear strap. What is the white stuff that is placed on the pipe between it and the tank. Is it pipe dope? Seems to come off pretty easy.

It is unknown what that white material is. It is probably some kind of glue used by the manufacturer. We recommend the Valtera # A05-0303 Solvent Cement for these types of connections. Be sure to clean the joints before applying the cement.
