Universal Cam-Door Lock Recommendation for Toy Hauler that the Door Does not Close all the Way
Published 11/30/2012 >
Question:
We have a 2006 Eclipse Attitude Toy Hauler with a rear ramp door. The original door latches were installed below the half way height of the door and are not holding the top of the door closed. We need to change the latches to a style that will hold the top tightly closed. What do you recommend to change the latch style to? I dont have pictures of the door but can take them and email them if you need to see exactly what is happening.

I believe I know what is happening. It sounds like your door latches are at the middle of your door which leaves the top of the door slightly open.
You could use a Universal Cam-Door Lock for Enclosed Trailers # like what you referenced. I would run it across the top lip of your trailer ramp so that it will secure the top of the door as well. Depending on the setup you might consider leaving your current latches and then install a # 383200 as well.
Or, you could move your current latches higher up the door so that it secures the top as well.
You should note that with the # 383200 you will need to supply your own 3/4 inch pipe.
If you would like to email me back with the pictures of your setup I will check them out and see if there is something else that might work better for you.
