Can ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Pads be Applied to Side of Holding Tank

Updated 10/20/2020 | Published 10/19/2020

Question:

My fresh water tank is 80 gallons and lies flat on the floor in the basement of our class A coach. I i though of lifting the tank and tucking them under but I see compressing the pads can be problematic. I also see suggestions to put spacers under the tank. This is not possible. The tank is 8 inches high. Can I just mount 2 of them to opposite sides of the tank?

You can apply the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad with Thermostat # 277-000164 to the side of your tank if you like, it certainly won't harm anything, assuming it is not touching any conductive surfaces.

The reason they are supposed to be under the tank though is to ensure the best heating, so try to get the ThermaHeat Pads # 277-000164 as low as possible to spread the heat throughout the tank where the water is.
