Information Needed to Replace a Dexter Torsion Axle

Question:
I have a 2010 or 2011 dexter tortion axel on my boat trailer with a damaged spindle. Do all dexter axels work for boats? The spindle cannot be replaced and looks pressed in. How can I tell what type of axel it is? If I cant read what type of axel it is due to corrosion, how do I measure to match the correct dimensions - Width, , etc The spindle was worn down on the top from a castle nut failure probably due to reusing the cotter pin. Then the hub was resting directly on the spindle as it spun and wore down the inner bearing seat area about 1/8inch and its flat now at that spot. Bearings still fit, but I assume it will fail - is this correct or the bearings can support the weight?

There are some great options available to replace your Dexter torsion axle. We do not have torsion axles available, but you could replace your torsion axle with a standard straight axle or an axle-less suspension. If your hubs and bearing are damaged, you should replace those as well. I recommend picking out an axle replacement that includes new hub assemblies so you don't have to have to shop around for the correct parts to fit your spindle.
I recommend an axle-less system as it does away with the axle completely, and instead uses rubber pads in lieu of a standard suspension and bolts directly onto the trailer frame. This will be a far easier option to replace your torsion axle in terms of installation compared to the straight axle. To pick out the correct axle-less replacement, you just need the weight rating of your trailer and, if you are using the same wheels that were on your torsion axle, the bolt pattern of your wheels. The Timbren # A20RS545 is a great option for a 2,000 lb trailer and wheels with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern.

If you do want to go with the straight axle option, you will need the axle, leaf springs, and hangers. I need the weight capacity and the length from one hub-face to the other on your trailer in order to make a recommendation if you go this route.
