When wiring up a jack like the Electric Jack w/ Footplate part # EJ-3520-BBX on your trailer and you already have a junction box like the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit w/ Junction Box and RV Style Connector part # HS381-9000 I highly recommend wiring it to the junction box. Whether the jack is a single or dual wire you will be able to connect them to the box and not have to run excess wiring.
If you do not have a junction box it is perfectly acceptable to go to the battery but I prefer my connections all in one place.
