Will this rack carry a 40foot ladder? if not do we have one that will for a 2003 Dodge 1500 6foot bed

Yes, you can carry a 40ft extension ladder on your 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with 6-1/2 ft bed using the Thule SR Sliding Ladder Rack, # TH43003XT-501EX. You will have about 6 ft of overhang on the front and back if you center the ladder on the ladder rack, so you will want to use a red flag as per your local DOT requirements.

This is the longest ladder rack offered for your truck, so it doesn't get much better than this for carrying a long ladder on a short bed truck. A set of ratchet straps, like part # EM34410, would be a good option too.
