Reese Towpower 8508700 Compact IQ Brake Control Not Staying Connected

Question:

This controller is not working. I have a 2015 Toyota Tundra. When I connect the wiring harness to the controller the green light comes on but only for a few seconds and then it goes off. Shouldnt this green light stay on when Im connected to my trailer? Any ideas what that could be?

I would check the connector. It sounds as if it is coming out of contact with the connector at the back. Spread the blades of the 7-way slightly and I believe that will make your connection more reliable. If that does not work a new trailer connector should be added like the Hopkin's 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector part # H20042.

This is a pretty common issue we see with this style connector.
