Question:
I have a 2017 Rockwood Forest River 25foot Mini lite 2509S that has a published hitch weight of 709 lbs and a GVWR of 6694 lbs. I will be using a Ram 2500 crew cab with cummins diesel and 8 ft bed to pull it. My question is I should get the 800 lb TW / 8000 lb GTW or the 1000 lb TW / 10000 lb GTW rated Fastway E2 trunnion load distribution hitch? Please let me know your recommendation. thanks

Expert Reply:
Since picking out a weight distribution system should be based on the loaded tongue weight of the setup which also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle and your dry tongue weight is 709 lbs you'd want the higher rated part # FA92-00-1000 which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,000 lb.
For a hitch ball you'd want the part # 63840 for a 2-5/16 inch size and then for a thin walled socket to install the ball # ALL643216.
