Recommended Weight Distribution System for Forest River Salem FSX 178BHSK

Updated 08/06/2020 | Published 08/04/2020

Question:

Hello, Im going to be towing a 22foot Salem FSX 178BHSK with a 2016 Tacoma 4 door sport off road short bed, the truck also has a 3 inch full suspension lift. Im trying to decide which weight distribution hitch to buy, the listed tongue weight for the trailer is 430lbs. I will have a couple hundred pounds of load in the truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you are going to use a weight distribution system then it makes sense to go with one that has integrated sway control as well since this is such a useful added benefit. The best cost effective option we have for this is the Husky Center Line Weight Distribution. The part # HT32217 has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 800 lbs so as long as the loaded tongue weight of the trailer plus weight of cargo in bed does not exceed this you'll be good to go. I will add that the tongue weight you see listed for the trailer is dry so the loaded tongue weight will be higher.

Please note, because of the lift it is likely you'd need a longer shank like the Curt Weight Distribution Shank part # 17120 to tow level.
