Can a 2019 Kia Sorento with automatic transmission be flat towed?

I have looked through the 2019 Kia Sorento owners manual. The owners manual on any vehicle tells you how the vehicle should be towed. If your Kia is a front wheel drive then it is acceptable to tow with the back wheels on the ground and the front wheels on a dolly. If your vehicle is a four wheel drive model then the vehicle has to be towed on a trailer with all four wheels off the ground.

If your Kia is a FWD model I recommend Demco Kar Kaddy X Tow Dolly w/ Disc Brakes - Tilt Bed Frame - 4,800 lbs - Wide Tread Item # DM9713093. It comes with the hydraulic braking system which includes the surge coupler and disk brakes, safety cables, tie down straps for the front wheels, and a full LED DOT lighting package.

Since the dolly has a 4 pole connector and most RVs now have 7 Pole connectors I recommend Adapter 7 Pole to 4 Pole with Tester and Cover Item # 47345. This adapter plugs directly into your 7 pole plug on the back of your RV and allows you to connect the four pole plug from the dolly. This provides the dolly with all the proper lighting functions from the RV. It also has a tester that lets you know if you have a lighting issue before you leave.

My Kia is front wheel drive, so you're saying I should use a dolly and NOT flat tow It?

Correct - the owner's manual states that it needs to be towed on a dolly. It is not recommended to tow the Kia Sorento with all 4 wheels on the ground. You can also verify this in your copy of the manual.

Hi Shane, I assume the same goes for a 2022 Kia Sorento with front wheel drive, correct? I should mention I have a 2007 Fleetwood Tioga SL. It has a 5K towing capacity with the 7 way connector and I already have a 4 to 7 way adapter for it. I really like the tow dolly with the disc Brakes built in. Saves time not having to install a brake controller on the motorhome. Thank you, Ron G
