Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2018 Jeep JL and Ram 1500

When putting together a flat towing package you'll need parts from the following categories: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, tow bar wiring, supplemental braking and a high low adapter. Your base plates and tow bar will need to be compatible, and since you may want to tow two different vehicles, a portable supplemental braking system would be the best choice. I've linked some articles that specifically talk about flat towing these two vehicles, but will also provide a quick list of the parts I recommend for your 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL for you below. For your Jeep JL, which base plates are compatible with your vehicle are dependent on the style of bumper on your vehicle, so that will effect your choices to start. I recommend going with Blue Ox products for your Jeep since I've found that they're a little more in tune with the Jeep community than some other companies.

Base plates: Blue Ox # BX1139
Tow Bar: Blue Ox Avail # BX7420
Wiring: Blue Ox Wiring Kit # BX88308
Supplemental Braking: Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR - requires Stop Light Switch # RM-751490 and Battery Charge Line # RM-156-25

For the Ram 1500 (Tow bar, safety cables, supplemental braking can be used on both vehicles):

Base Plates: Blue Ox # BX2409 (for Sport or Express trim package- compatible with Avail towbar)
Tow Bar Wiring: Roadmaster Diode Kit 7 wire to 6 Wire # RM-15267

You will also need a high/low adapter for this vehicle that is likely a different size than the one on your Jeep, so you'll need to measure for that in the same manner to determine which one to use.
