What To Do If Bumper and Hitch Contact Each Other After Installation On 2008 Audi A4
Updated 05/18/2020 | Published 05/14/2020 >
Question:
I completed step 2 of placing the hitch to be level and square. It seems the horizontal bar hits my lower bumper. I was able to install it but it is touching. will this cause issue or damage or should I trim it?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 11164 which is a fit for a 2008 Audi A4 does not require trimming. However, the fit around the lower part of the bumper fascia where it meets the frame brackets for the hitch can be tight and in some cases touching. If the parts are touching it would be a good idea to go ahead and make some small cuts to alleviate some pressure as this then puts more stress on the fasteners. That said, you most likely would not run into any issues if just left the way it is.
