Question:

Hi - I was wondering if you could let me know if this Saris lock would work with my Double Down 4 rack? This looks much more substantial than the lock that Yakima makes. Looks like same threads and close enough length to work.

The shank of the Yakima Down Down 4 Rack has proprietary threads so it is only compatible with the Yakima locks. I see that you looked at the Yakima lock core part # Y07235 which attaches to the end of the threaded hitch bolt that came with the Double Down rack.

If you need the hitch bolt to attach the Y07235 lock cylinder to then you need replacement threaded hitch bolt part # Y8890176 as well. The Yakima brand manufactures quality products and we have not had any issues with the locks in the past.
