Availability of Replacement Dust Covers That Fit Over Hub Bore

Updated 04/16/2020 | Published 04/14/2020

Question:

I have an old tilt bed utility trailer. Ive recently have started to redo the trailer. The bearings are not humming or grinding. They just havent had any service. Want to replace the grease seal, flat spindle lock washer and dust cap. The dust cap that came with it is the snap inside. The metal press-in is in good shape. I want to switch the rubber dust cap to a push on outside. I measured 2-1/16inch OD. Whats the best item to use? If Im correct my grease seal should be 1.5inch ID.

We do have grease seals that have 1.5" ID but you'll also want to measure where the grease seal makes contact with your hub so that it is a snug fit. If that measures 1.987" then you need part # 10-9 (part # RG06-020 for a 2 pack) and if it measures 2.332" then you'll need part # SL150 instead. It's best to take grease seal and bearing measurements with a digital caliper to ensure that what you get is an exact fit.

For the washer that goes on the end of the spindle we do have a variety of styles as well so I am linking our selection for you to filter through to make sure you get the same type.

When it comes to dust caps, the only type that we have available are ones that you drive in (or thread in) the hub. The Replacement Dust Caps # e99016 that you referenced are replacements for the etrailer Bearing Protectors # e99004 which would drive in to your hub. I'm linking our selection of dust/grease caps for you to filter through, but if you can measure the ID of your hub bore I can make a recommendation for one of our caps.
