In order to install a brake controller on a 2019 Honda CR-V you will have a few options, a wired brake controller such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 or a wireless brake controller such as the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180. If you choose the wired option then you'll need to splice into wires on the vehicle such as the cold side of the brake light switch. I unfortunately cannot give you an exact wire color so what you'll need to do is start testing the wire with a circuit tester so you can locate the one that is only hot while the brake pedal is depressed. That's going to be the cold side.
If you choose to go the wireless route which is what I strongly recommend then you won't have to do any splicing into the vehicle and there will be no connection to the stop light switch circuit needed. It simply requires a power wire be run from the trailer connector to the battery. In order to do this, you will need the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L. If you don't already have a 4-way you will need to obtain one of these as well, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118741.
