Comparing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches #24844 and #24795 for a Hyundai Elantra

Question:
I saw an earlier answer that stated that the 24844 hitch had a longer tube, but would not fit the Elantra sedan. I was curious if the tube length was the only difference, and why it would not fit. In the photo it looks like the extra length is from the cross-arm tubing outward, with everything else the same. I am looking for a hitch for a 2008 Hyundai Elantra sedan, and I thought the extra tube length would help position my bike rack a little further from the trunk, which I think would be helpful.

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24844, is designed for the 2009 to 2012 Hyundai Elantra touring Hatchback. The hitch is designed specifically to attach to the mounting locations on the hatchback which are different than those on the sedan; and it only goes back to 2009.
The correct Draw-Tite hitch for a 2008 sedan is # 24795. As you can see in the video I have linked showing a typical installation, the receiver is not too far recessed from the rear of the vehicle.
Another issue to look at is the bike rack you have. It must be compatible with a Class I trailer hitch to fit the hitch. Also, you can only carry up to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I trailer hitch because additional bikes put too much stress on the receiver of a Class I hitch.
If you need a compatible bike rack, I recommend the Swagman Titan, # S63400. It is Class I compatible, it has anti-sway cradles, the ability to tilt down, and an integrated cable lock. i have included a link to the installation details for this rack for you.
If you need to carry 3 bikes, you could use a trunk mount bike rack. I have included a link to all of the trunk mount bike racks that will fit a 2008 Hyundai Elantra.
