How To Wire Two 6 Volt Batteries and a 12 Volt Battery Together

Question:
This question came up recently in a rv forum. Id like to know what the correct response should be. 3 batteries2 6 volt connected to 1 12 volt. In another QandA from etrailer I thought it was answered but the answer only showed have 2 batteries are connected. thanks

The correct configuration of attaching three batteries would vary based on the desired output. If you wish to retain 12 volts which is the most common setup then you will need to attach the two 6 volts batteries in series and then the 12 volt battery in parallel to the series 6 volt batteries. In summary, the two 6 volt batteries will be attached to one another (+ to -) and the 12 volt battery will be attached to the two six volt batteries (+ to + and - to -). The battery output would then be 12 volts and the battery capacity would be one 6 volt plus the 12 volt battery.
In order to charge this battery bank, you will need a charger with multiple voltage applications and banks. The NOCO Genius UltraSafe Battery Charger part # 329-G4 is what I recommend.
